Humanoid Robots
Humanoid robotics runs on demo videos and shipment claims that are rarely checked afterwards. The threshold below is a countable one, on a fixed date, from a named source.
The ledger — hash-sealed, scored in public
CORRECT if full-year 2026 global humanoid shipment tallies published by IDC, TrendForce or Omdia by 2027-06-30 reach 50,000 units or more. Announced orders and backlogs do not count — shipped units only.

Live projections
The baseline is finally a real number instead of a promo reel: roughly 18,000 humanoids shipped in 2025 (IDC), up ~500% in a year — led not by the famous names but by Unitree (~5,500) and AgiBot (~5,200) selling functional platforms at accessible prices. This claim plants its flag exactly on the consensus projection: TrendForce's 50,000+ for calendar 2026. Manufacturer targets stack far higher (Unitree 20,000; Tesla 50,000-100,000 for Optimus), but hardware ramps miss more often than they hit, and Tesla's own target history earns a heavy discount. Sealed at 55: slightly better than a coin flip that China's supply chain does what the industry says it will — resolved by count, not by demo video.
Wrong if: full-year 2026 global humanoid shipment tallies published by IDC, TrendForce or Omdia (by 2027-06-30) come in below 50,000 units.
Window: 2026-2027.
This is no longer a forecast about capability — agents' reliable task-horizon has been doubling roughly every seven months (METR) — it is a forecast about diffusion. The first casualty is measurable: early-career employment in AI-exposed occupations fell ~13% relative to less-exposed peers (Stanford, 2025), and every prior automation wave says the transition gap, not the endpoint, is where societies break.
Wrong if: by 2030, early-career employment in AI-exposed occupations recovers to its 2022 trend AND aggregate white-collar task automation measured by major labor studies stays under 15%.
Window: 2026-2030.
Tail scenarios
If an AI system reaches the point where it can meaningfully improve its own successor, capability could compound faster than institutions, alignment techniques, or human oversight can track. The danger is not cartoon malice but discontinuity: a fast jump that leaves verification behind while objectives remain imperfectly specified. Frontier labs and states are racing, which removes the option to simply slow down.
